A few things worth knowing before you visit.
Steak on the stone
How does steak on the stone work?
Your steak arrives at the table on a lava stone heated to around 400°C. Slice off a piece, sear it on the stone for as long as you like, and enjoy. Every bite is cooked exactly how you like it and stays hot to the last mouthful.
Is the stone hot to touch?
Yes, very. Please don’t touch the stone or let children near it. Our team will explain everything when your steak arrives.
Do you serve anything other than steak?
Yes. The menu also has classic fish, burgers and kebabs, with fresh sides, puddings and coffee. Take a look at our menu.
Booking & visiting
Do I need to book?
We recommend booking, especially for Friday and Saturday evenings. Call us on 01332 811617 to reserve a table.
When is the restaurant open?
Stones is open Wednesday to Saturday, 5pm to 10:30pm. We’re closed Sunday to Tuesday.
Where do I find you?
Stones is round the back of Donington Fish Bar, on Church Lane in Castle Donington (DE74 2LG). The fish bar is at the front, at 40 Borough Street. See the Contact page for directions.
Can you cater for allergies and dietary requirements?
Please tell us about any allergies or dietary requirements when you book and again when ordering, and our team will help you choose.

Are Stones and Donington Fish Bar the same place?
Yes. Donington Fish Bar is our takeaway at the front, and Stones is our sit-down restaurant round the back. Same team, same phone number.
